create wonder.

According to the 2011 census, there were only 59 Nepalese-born residents living at Mowbray.

Now, it is estimated there are 2,000 Nepalese (figures as of Dec 2020) living in Launceston's northern suburbs, and that figure is continuing to grow. And, it is in the suburbs of Mowbray and Newnham where the Launceston Nepali Cricket Club (LNCC) was formed in 2015.

S. Group is proud to be the Gold Sponsor of the LNCC, playing a small role to help enable the club to continue to achieve its goals, both on and off the cricket pitch.

The club first formed to create community comradery, playing 'friendly' matches with the Indian community. The Tasmanian Cricket League (TCL) then welcomed the club into its 2019-20 roster in the B-grade division, with LNCC finishing third overall on the ladder. This past 2020-21 season LNCC was elevated to the A-grade competition and again performed admirably on the field, again finishing third overall by season’s end. LNCC were also recognised at the Tasmanian Community Cricket Awards in 2020 – named winner of the 'inclusion and diversity initiative of the year'.

It’s been a blast to get along to support the side in some of their matches this past season, and we’ll definitely be keen to stay on supporting the club in future years. If you haven’t already, then be sure to give LNCC a follow on Facebook to show your support!
