Standing approximately 75 metres tall, the 20 storey, 4-star hotel proposed for 2-6 Collins Street Hobart utilises space efficiently. The building is designed in two components; the podium and the tower, which aesthetically helps minimise the visual scale of the building and it’s impact on the location. The façade and exterior of the podium use different materials, tone and space, providing the perception of reducing the weight of the building and creating a lighter looking structure.
The hotel is expected to house up to 495 rooms with a combination of single, double and 3-bed suites, whilst the inclusion of a 1000 seat conference facility will put the state on the map for national and international conferences.
The project will create over 600 full-time jobs, from initial building development to ongoing full time staff. With a construction investment of some $80M, the project has the potential to add a further $16M per year into the local economy.
Pending the development application, construction is expected to take 24 months.
