Responding sensitively to context, this project required a design response that achieved a connection to outdoor living areas, views of the mountains beyond and clear spatial zoning to achieve a functional and comfortable family home. Upon entering the home, the design splits into two wings, housing the main living areas and sleeping spaces. Elevated above the bedroom wing, the main living space incorporates warm Scandinavian tones and contemporary finishes, flowing out through large glass sliders, down to a sheltered and generous outdoor deck. On the same plane as the external deck, the bedroom wing runs alongside to also include a secondary living zone for the children, maintaining a constant visual connection to the external conditions. Grounding the architecture into the landscape, the home is finished with recycled brick, weathered timbers and a neutral palette.
