S. was delighted to be able to help out City Mission on a small refurbishment project of an existing, rundown building. A worthwhile cause, ‘The Mish’ was conceived as a program-based service that strives to help young people between the ages of 12-25. Offering mentoring support, barista and hospitality programs, multimedia training, art and music, the design responds by incorporating a street front coffee window, functional, communal spaces and eye catching artwork, by a local artist, to give the centre a youthful persona. The design strives to incorporate the community ethos of the City Mission and create a space that is safe, welcoming and conducive to learning. The refurbishment also successfully achieves a stronger presence for the City Mission in the local community and a renewed awareness for our young people.
