Simon Uren
Architect
Simon says build a house with S. Group, Simon says pay your bills on time, now buy him a bottle of whiskey… Did we get you?
Enter Simon Uren. With a lifetime of experience in a multitude of industries, Simmo made a sea change back in 2015 to follow his passion for architecture, and, in 2017 he was the recipient of the Barry McNeill Graduate award from the University of Tasmania.
Through his years of experience, he has become an expert in design, drafting and project management. Hard-working, self-motivated and straight down the line are a few ways to describe him, which clearly explains the 30 chin-ups in a row thing.
A bit of a guru, Simon has also run and lectured the 1st year architecture course in Communication in Design at the University of Tasmania, passing on his wisdom to the next generation and trying to strip a few years off his age.
Having previously worked in the special operations group with Tas Police, and as a firefighter, you may see him on our inaugural S. Group calendar.
When he's not knee-deep in drafting, you'll probably find him off the beaten path in the great outdoors, hanging with his kids, tinkering under the hood of a classic car or catching an egg from his pet parrot (ask him, it’s worth it).
