create wonder.

Residential architecture + interior fit-out.

Located at Leith on Tasmania’s north-west coast, ‘Aisling House’ has settled nicely into its coastal context and enjoys a spectacular outlook across Bass Strait.

Spoilt with a northerly orientation to the views, the home takes in an uninterrupted ocean outlook which also sweeps around to the west – across the River Forth, and with views to the Dial Range and Rocky Cape further up the coastline.

Surrounded by a native coastal reserve, the ground floor feels nestled into the landscape and is quite private to the street. On the contrary, the ocean and northerly side of the home features generous glazing which offers connection to the outdoors, and takes in that all-important solar gain, resulting in a home that will heat quite passively.

Aisling House’s upper floor accommodates a generous master bedroom suite pavilion, along with a spacious open-plan living zone – kitchen, dining, and lounge areas. These spaces are located on the upper floor so as to rise above the native coastal flora and take in the ocean views.

The dramatic double-sided Cheminees Philippe wood heater forms the heart of the home and acts as a source of connection in the living zone. Tas Oak flooring was selected for the living areas and helps the areas feel natural and warm.

The external cladding of the home features a combination of James Hardie Axon and Fine Texture Cladding, along with CSR Cemintel woodlands. These claddings and colours were selected to be sympathetic to the home’s setting.

Aisling House is flooded in natural light, with each of the 3 bedrooms downstairs, along with the master and living zones upstairs enjoying northerly glazing and outlook.

The central kitchen incorporates a walk-in pantry and features Caesar stone benchtops, with a key element of the kitchen being a servery that opens via bi-fold windows and out onto the deck.

The upper floor master-suite is generous in both size and luxury – a spacious, sun-lit space with spectacular views… including when relaxing in the ocean-view bath! The custom-made bathroom joinery features beautiful black heart sassafras timber, bringing a natural and warm aesthetic to the room.
